Why am I learning Chinese?

I could have been learning any language of the world. Why Chinese? Well, not because of my interest. It's because I have a tab that was fully Chinese. I changed the settings and changed it to English. But some Chinese will never change. Finally, I had a thought. I'll learn Chinese.

 Now, some people shudder at the thought of learning Chinese. There are so many Chinese characters in the writing system! How do you even recognise them all? And they look so complex! A bunch of straight and diagonal lines and a box divided into four too. People are terrified at the thought of the tones that are in Chinese. Which variety should you learn? I think Mandarin.
